New Year’s Resolutions

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. – Carl Bard

I am ashamed to admit that in many ways I am a walking cliché. (or should I say ‘wheeling’ cliché).

Probably one of the most silly clichés I uphold, is the common misconception that once the clock strikes 12 on New Year’s Eve, it’s a new year and therefore a “new me” has emerged. That’s right, I make a long list of resolutions to somehow transform myself under the unflinchingly optimistic belief that I am going to uphold each and every one of them throughout the year.

And let’s face it people, I know as well as the rest of you that come February we will have forgotten what the hell most of our resolutions even were.

I’m pretty sure a few years ago I had a resolution to learn how to juggle. HA! I haven’t even looked at a juggling ball since…. What a joke!

And yet every year I have the same thoughts: But what if this year’s different? I’m a year older, a year wiser. I can do this! I am going to become a better, healthier, more productive person who contributes to society! Thus, is born the new list of new year’s resolutions.

This year is no different.

Yes, I have made some resolutions which really isn’t a bad thing you have to admit. I mean its a probably a good thing that anyone should strive to improve themselves. Nobody’s perfect after all. There is one particular resolution that I would like to share with you because it is the reason you are reading this today.

Before I tell you, let me give you some background.

Back in August 2017, I started my very first blog: Ballerina at Heart. I had been told by many people that it was a good idea for someone like me who loves to write. Though to begin with, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I did get off to a really good start but then it all kind of just went downhill from there.

There were complaints that people were having trouble accessing the site and I didn’t keep to a consistent publishing schedule.  Although I had started off with some great pieces, towards the end I wasn’t always publishing stuff that I was proud of.

So, with that being said, here’s my main goal for 2018.

I want to focus on my blog! On my new blog, at that. I want to not only stick to a schedule of posting content every week for you guys, but also publish articles that I’m actually proud of and that means writing pieces ahead of time instead of on the day or even in that week. (Hence, I am typing this early in December).

I hope to create a blog that’s more user friendly so that everyone can read it. I  want to design something that is more appealing to all ages and genders (when I say all ages, I mean teenagers and older).

Most importantly I hope to create something that you guys find useful, entertaining and inspiring. This is not just a blog about me or my life as a dancer. It’s about many things that I observe or experience in the world we all live in.

It’s about the things I’ve learnt so far and the dreams I hope to accomplish in the near future. I am only 18, I still have much to learn. But I’m ambitious and I hope to change the world someday.

Hey, and don’t worry. You don’t have to have a disability or illness in order to relate to me. I am also a student, a teenage girl and a genius among other things… (joker should be in there somewhere).

On another note; I think its a good idea for anyone to come up with at least one resolution. It doesn’t have to be big or elaborate. Just a small change that you can make to yourself or your lifestyle that will help you live your best life as the best version of yourself. Its never too late to make adjustments.

So, to you sitting there, reading this on whatever device you’re reading it on; I hope this new blog finds you well. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read this.

I hope you had a great New Year’s Eve and I wish you the best of luck for 2018! It’s going to be a great year, I just know it.

Have a lovely day! xx
