My very own 27 dresses

If there’s one thing you should know about me; it’s that I’m a classic girly girl. My favourite colour is pink, I love getting my nails done and I believe there’s nothing that a cute outfit won’t fix.

I have a particular love of pretty dresses. My favourite thing about summer is getting to finally bring them out and dust them off. Interestingly I have exactly 27 dresses (my favourite romcom!) if you don’t count the two rompers. I have a dress for pretty much every occasion and I’m very proud of my collection.

I believe that my true personality comes out when I’m wearing my dresses.

I love bright colours and bold patterns (particularly floral prints). I prefer shorter dresses so you can see my legs but not too skimpy. Anything off the shoulder or with lace. Long sleeves or sleeveless. I have casual stay-at-home dresses, cocktail dresses, beachy dresses and everything in between.

All my dresses are worn with confidence and purpose. With the right jacket, shoes and a bag, you got yourself a picture-perfect outfit (in my view).

I’ve never been one for following trends and some of my dresses I’ve had for years (Claudia classics, if you will). The key to shopping for a good dress is as simple as the lyrics in Ariana Grande’s song; 7 rings: β€œI see it, I like it, I want it, I got it”.

I make sure I like the dress and that it fits (obvi). I then try to imagine where I would wear it, and if that’s more than once (we not out here buying clothes just so we can wear them once!). I also try to buy dresses that aren’t too similar while still sticking to my own personal taste.

It’s a sad time when summer ends. I’m truly going to miss wearing dresses every day.

Now, I know you might be thinking; β€œgee Claudie, what’s the big deal? They’re just dresses”

β€œHush!” I say. They are more than just dresses. They are my confidence cloaks!

You see, I feel at my most confident self when I’m wearing the perfect dress. Like I said, I have dresses for all occasions and once I put on that dress for that occasion, I’m ready to go.

If it’s a fancy cocktail dress, I’m ready to drink and socialise. If it’s a casual stay-at-home dress, I’m ready to lounge outside in the sun and read. If it’s a comfortable and smart dress, I’m ready to go to uni or get some work done. My dresses work like magic for me.

And to be quite honest with you, I don’t really need to explain how it works, it just works. The more important thing is that I think everybody has that one thing that works like magic for them to get them in the zone. Maybe it’s a particular ritual or music or make-up.

Whatever your β€˜thing’ is. That thing that makes you feel confident or in the zone, find it and use it!

That is the message I want you to take away from this girly girl and her 27 dresses.
