The new love of my life

Oh my gosh, I am so so excited right now!

As you’ve probably guessed by the title of this article (and the subsequent photos), I am very proud to announce the arrival of my new baby boy. Friends, family and people of the internet, let me introduce the newest addition to my family and my new love: ROMEO!

Romeo was born on the 23rd of February and he arrived home on Saturday the 21st of April. He is a little toy poodle.

I fell in love with this boy as soon as I met him… well of course…. How couldn’t you fall in love with such a gorgeous, golden ball-of-fluff?

I’ve been wanting a dog for a while now. We’ve been searching for a few months until a month ago we finally came across our breeder Karen, who thankfully had two puppies left in her litter.

Out of the two left, Romeo was the most placid and seemed quite happy to sit in my lap which is how I knew he was the one.

Not only did I want a dog because I love animals in general, but also, I’ve really needed a companion lately. I know dogs make good companions for sure and I just think he is going to be really good for me. There is just something so spectacularly beautiful about the unconditional love of a dog toward their owner. We’re going to look after each other. After all;

A dog is a man’s best friend

I called him Romeo because A. I am a hopeless romantic and B. because it’s just a cute-as name for a dog. I think it suits him, he’s my Romeo.

So far, he has already taken a liking to sitting on the footrest of my wheelchair and travels around on that when I’m in the house. He goes absolutely berserk over his squeaky toys and loves chasing his ball or paper on a string. In fact, he attacks just about anything he can from blankets to our toes (he loves chasing feet apparently).

Unfortunately, he is not yet toilet trained. Nor is he used to sleeping on his own. Subsequently, it’s a lot of wees on beds and carpets, and howling at night around here.

But I reckon the best thing about him is how happy he is. He loves the whole family but already knows I’m his mummy which is the most heart-warming thing I could ever imagine. He gets excited when I walk in the door and after a little while of playing, he’s quite happy to sit in my lap and nestle in for a nap while I’m doing my homework.

I guess that’s all I can really tell you; I’ve only had him for 4 days now. Oh, I’m sooo going to be one of those dog mum’s whose Instagram accounts are just an ode to her pup.

And yes, he will be the most spoilt pup in town.

Gosh I’m so excited!

Have a lovely day! xx
